What We Do at DELCO Indivisible

Undocumented immigrants are part of Pennsylvania's working class. Over 150,000 undocumented workers—along with nurses, teachers,  construction workers, factory workers, and service industry  employees—make up Pennsylvania's diverse working-class community. Having access to a driver's license is essential for everyday life. HB 1518 will provide opportunities for more undocumented immigrants to apply for a driver's license.  Contact Governor Shaprio to support this legislation. 

The New Year rang in new housing, employment, healthcare discrimination protections for DELCO residents in the new Human Relations Commission! Please email Delaware County Council to thank them for passing this basic human right in the county. 

(There  has been plenty of pushback at County Council meetings from folks  pushing against the ordinance so we need to be vocal in support of the  ordinance to make all voices heard.)

Rep. Paul Friel of House District 26 (D) has introduced a bill titled the Officer Visibility Act.  This will require that all Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) NOT wear  masks when they carry out arrests and raids. ICE agents have taken  advantage of the lack of regulation and wear masks to not be identified  while they carry out unlawful arrests and raids. The lack of regulation  has also resulted in vigilante raids by masked civilians. Tell your Reps that you support this bill!

AI data centers ruin the environment and make electricity and water bills skyrocket. Tell our state reps that we do NOT want more AI data centers to be built in PA! 

RFK Jr and his HHS has undermined scientific advances and public health with vaccine rules reversed and other information hidden or changed. Several state governors have signed a pledge to counter his misinformation via the Governor's Public Health Alliance. PA has yet to join. Call or write to Shapiro to tell him that PA needs to be part of this alliance for the sake of our health!

Independence Mall is considered a National Park and has come under scrutiny by the "anti DEI" Trump Administration. There are amazing displays at the entrance and inside the building with the Liberty Bell that discusses the reality that our founding fathers had slaves. The Trump Administration would rather we remove this information. Call our senators to let them know that we will NOT allow this to happen. You cannot whitewash this history!

Make your voice heard and stay informed at a Delco Council Meeting.  Tax increases have been a hot button issue as of late and Council needs  to hear more differing opinions. Plus it's a great way to stay informed  on what's going on in our backyards. The meeting schedule is here. 

Email Delaware County Council to ask that they add a line item to make  social media ads and messages about Disinformation in their next budget.  We need to educate folks online to be skeptical of things that don't  make sense, are overly inflammatory, or too good to be true. From  elderly scams to racism, disinformation on social media has dismantled  our democracy and enough is enough. Let's make common sense common again  in Delco! 

The Trump administration is dragging us into war with  Venezuela and has declared that the US will “run” Venezuela and control oil  production until a transition of power can take place. He is  disregarding national sovereignty and forcing a regime-change all  without authorization from Congress and without citing evidence of a  legitimate threat to the United States. Contact your representative to oppose Trump's illegal war on Venezuela.   

ICE has been sending plain- clothed officers to "arrest" (i.e. kidnap) people seen as "illegal" immigrants- some are even naturalized US citizens. They are being sent to El Salvador where they are being kept in appalling conditions. These unconstitutional actions cannot be allowed to continue! Stand up for our citizens and citizens-to-be. No person is illegal!

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act is currently being reviewed in the Senate. This bill would require more documentation for voters and risks disenfranchising millions of Americans in the process. Tell your Senators that voter suppression is simply unAmerican and will not "safeguard" anyone. 

The Big Bad Bill passed an over 40% budget cut to federal research grant funding. Funding for research from the federal government is crucial to the innovative discoveries that make our country great. Contact your representatives to urge them to protect federal research funding! 

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has pressured media giants to capitulate to the Trump regime and silence dissent on their platforms, leading to the cancellation of shows and firing of journalists. We have a first amendment right to free speech. Remind congress that it is their job to challenge these actions and tell them to protect our first amendment rights!
