What is a Call to Action?

A Call to Action, or CTA, is an issue that needs direct and immediate response from the community. The "Action" can be a donation to an organization or someone's legal fund, volunteering, spreading awareness, or contacting your representatives. See below for some local and national CTA's. If you have a CTA you would like to see posted here, please contact us at delcoindivisible@gmail.org.

CTA's Adressing DELCO and Philly area issues

SAVE SEPTA

On July 1st, SEPTA's current budget will run out. Currently, the General Assembly has been unable to pass a new budget for the new fiscal year. This will lead to service suspensions for Regional Rail as well as busses and PATCO, which will devastate commuters and the tourism industry for Philadelphia. This will lead to even more traffic on major roads such as 95 and 76 as well as create difficulties for lower income and disabled residents. Learn more here.

Support local healthcare workers

The recent closure of Crozer by a private equity company has left the area healthcare workers either out of work or overworked due to patients having to switch providers. There are also workers fighting for protections so that something like this never happens again. Support our local healthcare workers and their unions in this fight.

Media Food Bank Needs You!

Local food banks are struggling due to cuts in federal funding. Media Food Bank has kindly participated in several of our events and needs supplies. See their website for more information on what you can donate.

National

CTA's that address nationwide issues

Resist ICE!

ICE has been sending plain- clothed officers to "arrest" (i.e. kidnap) people seen as "illegal" immigrants- some are even naturalized US citizens. They are being sent to El Salvador where they are being kept in appalling conditions. These unconstitutional actions cannot be allowed to continue! Stand up for our citizens and citizens-to-be. No person is illegal!

Say NO to the SAVE Act (HR.22)

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act is currently being reviewed in the Senate. This bill would require more documentation for voters and risks disenfranchising millions of Americans in the process. Tell your Senators that voter suppression is simply unAmerican and will not "safeguard" anyone.

Oppose the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act

Senator Mike Lee of Utah has proposed the  Interstate Obscenity Definition Act . This act will criminalize the creation, consumption, and distribution of "obscene" media.  This might seem like a good thing, but the definition of obscenity used in this context is very vague and will target LGBTQ+ media and sex workers. Call your representatives and urge them to reject this law!

Protect our Judges

Judges have been facing threats from the current administration. Trump has hinted at arresting more if they go against his EO's. Judges are part of our checks and balances and are protected by our Constitution. Call your reps to demand that they help protect our judges from Trump's administration.
